Point of care dispensing improves doctor-patient relationships

Point of Care Dispensing Improves Doctor-Patient Relationships

Physicians are providing improved patient services by offering Point of Care Dispensing of pharmaceutical medicines to their patients. By doing so, a physician can be unique in the marketplace by helping their patients in several key areas. Though costs to patients are about the same as local pharmacies, Point of Care Dispensing is still profitable for physicians giving them an extra incentive to try this relatively unknown practice.

Sugar Land, TX (PRWEB) May 24, 2006

A small but growing number of physicians around the country are utilizing Point of Care Dispensing (http://www. PointOfCareDispensing. net) purely for the patient benefits the practice can provide. Point of Care Dispensing is a process where physicians provide complete prescriptions rather than hand out samples, saving their patient a trip to the pharmacy. Physician offices that incorporate this into their routine can provide significant benefits to their patients at a price that provides profitability to the physician's practice while not costing the patient any more than they would have paid at their local pharmacy.

"In today's business climate, even doctors compete for clientele in areas outside price" says Jeff Dodson, an independent dispensing consultant at MedX Sales (http://www. PointOfCareDispensing. net), a provider of dispensing services via repackagers of pharmaceutical drugs. "A doctor that provides improved patient services like Point of Care Dispensing stands out above physicians that don't. This can be a significant marketing advantage over nearby competing physician offices."

The list of patient benefits would seem to resonate with most physician's patients. They include:

Save The Patient Money: Many patients do not have drug or medication benefits and the cost to obtain drugs in a pharmacy can be very expensive. Many of the generic drugs a physician would carry in a Point of Care Dispensing (http://www. PointOfCareDispensing. net) program have very reasonable wholesale pricing making the retail price to the patient very affordable.

Save The Patient Time: The convenience of getting your prescription filled at the doctor's office and going home to bed is very appealing to every patient.

Improved Patient Therapy Compliance: It is a known fact that many patients leave the physician's office and never fill their prescription. Pharmacies report this statistic could be as high as 30%. Doctors can now be certain that the patient has the necessary medication and has taken their first dose right in their office.

Reduction In The Error Rate: The potential for fatal errors at pharmacies for the wrong drug, wrong dosage and wrong strength is approaching 5% in some areas. Cross-contamination is virtually 100%. Pharmacies often use the same trays to count different types of drugs. A pharmaceutical re-packager is under a more stringent set of rules and guidelines set by the DEA and FDA that prevent such occurrences.

Confidentiality: Many patients who would rather not discuss their medical situation outside their physician's office appreciate not having to go to their local pharmacist to get a prescription.

"Point of Care Dispensing just makes sense, on many levels," says Jeff Dodson. "Patients can be confident they are getting the right medicines at a cost that is about the same as their neighborhood pharmacy and physicians have an opportunity to increase patient care. For most physicians, it is a matter of when they will dispense medicines, not if they will."

Jeff Dodson is an independent dispensing consultant for MedX Sales. You can read more about Point of Care Dispensing (http://www. PointOfCareDispensing. net) and the company he represents at his web site, www. PointOfCareDispensing. net where you can also watch 2 short videos explaining this practice.

The sweetest little shop in winston salem has just celebrated its first birthday

The Sweetest Little Shop in Winston Salem Has Just Celebrated its First Birthday

Winston Salem, NC (PRWEB) September 14, 2006

The sweetest little Shoppe in Winston-Salem has just celebrated its first year in business at 1228 Reynolda Road.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee and gourmet chocolates tickles the senses as you make your entrance into SWEETIE’S, a quaint little dwelling that is now home to an array of unique candies and gift items.

Owners Russ & Jackie Williams stated that they wanted to bring a friendly, relaxed shopping experience to the local consumer who is searching for that little gift or candy item that might be out of the ordinary. As well as to provide corporate clients with exceptional items to satisfy their gift giving needs.

The 1928 bungalow that sits opposite the Children’s Home of North Carolina was painstakingly restored to reflect it’s elegant beginnings. With the help of friends and family members every surface was repainted, the hardwood floors restored to their original splendor.

In what was once the living room of Mac and Treva Teague, now serves as the inviting front room of SWEETIE’S. There is an antique fudge case well over 100 years old that houses mouth-watering truffles from Birnn in Burlington, Vermont and a selection of fudge from the Outer Banks. Light fixtures from the local Habitat Re Store and a lovely old sideboard from the downtown Rescue Mission outfitted the store and a large selection of handmade cabinetry much of it made by Russ.

A walk through the store reveals another room dedicated to uniquely packaged gift items by Jackie who claims that if “I can put candy on it around it or near it I will”. Evident by her ability to turn the likes of glass blown candleholders or crystal martini glasses into delightful explosions of chocolate and colors.

Travel a few more steps into the kitchen where there are always plenty of tasty samples and you’ll also find aromatic coffees and teas as well as gourmet cookies, chocolate covered pretzel rods and a very decadent caramel popcorn drizzled with white chocolate and nestled in with pecans, cashews, peanuts and bits of Belgian and white chocolate.

Jackie tells us that part of the charm and appeal of this little sweet Shoppe is that we have taken the time our first year in business to really listen to our consumer to provide them with not only the different and unusual but to also support the local artist and vendors right here in Winston Salem. It is all part of the charm of our store and gives our local artisans a place to showcase their wares.

To that end you will find an entire room dedicated to wonderful stationery, invitations and gift cards by local Winston artist and designer Devora Transou of Devora Designs’ whose latest designs now grace ladies silk PJ’s by Calvin Klein being sold at Neiman Marcus in New York City.

Beautiful tile trivets and hand painted ceramics, award winning photographic greeting cards by Winston’s very own Maria Braucht who for many years had her own very popular coffee and gift shop on Stratford Road. “Maria was and remains an icon in Winston” According to Russ we also carry several flavors of Maria’s locally roasted coffee beans. Here at Sweetie’s you cannot only sample her coffees but it is available for sale freshly brewed by the cup or whole bean by the pound.

There are fragrant gel candles, hand crafted by local husband and wife team, Andy and Debbie Winfrey, and lighting up the corners here and there are the charming seasonal glass blocks by Sandy.

New to Sweetie’s are the decidedly delicious Homemade Goodies by Karen and Nancy; two sisters who moved their respective families from hundreds of miles apart to Winston to be able to start a business venture together. Karen and Nancy provide scrumptious handmade caramels and white chocolate macadamia nut biscotti.

You’ll find two “life size” bunnies waving at you from the front porch every day they have become the store mascots and were hand crafted by local artisan Dee Keegly, whose fabulous stick ponies and unique wooden purses also call Sweetie’s home.

Jackie can be found on many a day helping to make the dreams of local brides come true or catering to the needs of special occasions in the way of hand crafted and customized favors for weddings, birthday’s, anniversaries, Bar or Bat Mitzvah’s. Corporate gift baskets and many ideas for pharmaceutical reps to realtors are her specialty.

She enjoys working with fine candies from around the world and her colorful candy arrangements can be found throughout the store and her work has been commissioned by the likes of Harley Davidson, Regal Marine boats, Outback Steak house and Westgate Resorts in Orlando, Florida. A former merchandising manager for Michael’s Art & Crafts in Florida she made an easy transition to Candy Bouquet Franchise owner and with the help and backing of her husband Russ they moved their business from New Smyrna Beach to Winston.

Russ a North Carolina native was born and raised in Siler City and is a graduate of Davidson College. Jackie, the product of a military home has lived “most everywhere” including a year in Alaska and several years abroad.

We chose Winston because we have a blended family, Russ has two daughters who live here with their families a son and his family in Jacksonville NC. Jackie has two sons in the Marine Corps, stationed at Camp LeJuene in Jacksonville, NC who currently serve with Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Russ, Jackie and the staff at Sweetie’s extend a warm invitation for you to come on by, sample our sweet treats grab a cup of freshly brewed coffee and sit for a spell on our front porch bench. Check out what’s on tap for Halloween and the upcoming Christmas holiday. Whatever the season, whatever the reason Sweetie’s has something special for everyone.

Store hours are Monday – Saturday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The ugly truth about commercial cosmetics

The Ugly Truth About Commercial Cosmetics

Afterglow Cosmetics explains the dangers behind many commerical cosmetics.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 4, 2006

Over 90% of all ingredients in commercially available cosmetics are of synthetic origin and directly linked to serious health risks like cancer, infertility, kidney and liver disease and severe skin issues.

Skin Deep's Report which recomends Natural Cosmetics (http://www. afterglowcosmetics. com) has identified over 900 chemicals commonly available for use in cosmetics that have toxic substances and are dangerous to your health. Environmental Working Group report called, “Skin Deep” found that almost 90 percent of the more than 10,000 ingredients used in personal care products have not been evaluated by government regulators. At the same time of the 20,000 different off-the-shelf cosmetic products that are for sales in the US, over 80% of the products surveyed contained one or more ingredients that have caused documented adverse reactions in humans and animals in the past.

Most of the large cosmetic and personal-care companies will tell you not to worry. They agree that there are many chemicals in their products, but say that the quantities are small and will not affect you. At first glance this seems reasonable. Unfortunately, this is a sugar coated public relations response and does not identify the true issue at hand. Medical science has proven that humans exposed over time to very small quantities of harmful chemicals do indeed suffer the consequences.

Medical science has proven that even the thin patches we stick to our arms or stomach with very small amounts of pharmaceutical chemicals can very effectively deliver chemicals into the bloodstream, totally changing the body's chemistry. Trans-dermal patches containing small traces of nicotine can effectively deliver chemicals directly into the bloodstream to alter tobacco cravings. The new contraceptive alternative to the “Pill” is a patch which contains very low levels of hormones and still has the ability to stop a woman from getting pregnant.

Little is known about the long term effects of the petroleum chemicals and synthetic products that we rub into our skin on a daily basis in the form of cosmetics, lotions, shampoos, etc. At this point scientists and researchers know that these chemicals pose a threat to human health and fertility and have been found in our bodies and breast milk. Chemicals found in cosmetics and personal-care products are linked to birth defects, hormone disruption and reduced fertility not to mention more pervasive cosmetic damage such as rashes, mild to severe acne and eczema. Many people use cosmetics and lotions to cure skin issues. Ironically, the products they are using and hoping for a cure are the very same products that are causing the problem.

Buy soma and carisoprodol online in the privacy of your own home at us-meds. Com

Buy Soma and Carisoprodol Online in the Privacy of Your Own Home at US-Meds. com

Buy Cheap Soma and Carisoprodol online at US-Meds. com, an online pharmacy service specializing in the muscle relaxer Soma and it's generic counterpart Carisoprodol.

(PRWEB) September 10, 2004

Soma, or its generic counterpart called Carisoprodol, is a muscle relaxer that works to help the pain associated with muscle spasms, strained or torn muscles, and is one of the best selling muscle relaxant pills in the USA. US-Meds. com offers this amazing muscle relaxant online through their web site at http://www. us-meds. com/_buy_soma. htm (http://www. us-meds. com/_buy_soma. htm)

Soma, the frequently prescribed muscle relaxer pill has come under increased pressure from state governments this year because government officials have deemed it necessary to protect its citizens from this muscle relaxer, even though no evidence has been submitted to prove that Soma is dangerous at all if used as prescribed.

Some states have recently decided to enact laws to ban online pharmacies from shipping Soma and Carisoprodol to their state because the patient has not physically met with a doctor before ordering Soma or Carisoprodol. The only problem is that an increasing amount of doctors are unlikely to prescribe this medication due to political pressure even though their patients would benefit tremendously from taking Carisoprodol or its name brand counterpart - Soma. A large percentage of patients looking to purchase Soma or Carisoprodal online already use these medications and have a valid prescription for these medications but government officials still deem it necessary to protect these patients from these muscle relaxants even though the majority of these people are in greater risk of further muscle injury.

Soma or Carisoprodol can help these people and US-Meds. com can help them purchase these medications online discreetly, and without having to take time off of work or wait in a busy waiting room for hours at a time. Many people buy Soma or Carisoprodol online because it is a convenience for those who can not afford to take the time off of work or for those of us who do not have medical insurance. And in terms of cost, Soma and Carisoprodol pills are very cheap. Soma, in its generic form called Carisoprodol can be purchased for under $100 for a 90 pill supply - very cheap Soma indeed.

Because of the unwillingness of doctors to prescribe the medications, patients now have to go to an online pharmacy to get Soma or Carisoprodol prescribed to them, which is now harder to do than ever because there are so many online pharmacy scams out there. That is where US-Meds. com comes in. They have been in business for almost two years with tens of thousands of happy customers. You can still buy Soma or Carisoprodol online at US-Meds. com and if you qualify, their doctors will write a prescription for you - meaning you do not have to already have a prior prescription! After a doctor writes your prescription, your prescription will be forwarded to one of the many pharmacies that fill for US-Meds. com. The pharmacy will fill your order and ship it out to you via FedEx Overnight Express straight to your door.

Soma and Carisoprodol are available in 350mg round tablets and are available in quantities or 30 or 90 pills. Soma or Carisoprodol can be taken up to 4 times a day as prescribed by the doctor. No more waiting rooms, no more taking time off of work, no more appointments, no more embarrassing doctor visits. Buy Soma or Carisoprodal online today at US-Meds. com to stop the muscle pain and live your life to the fullest!
